James M. Bennett Food pantry thriving, thanks to community support

SALISBURY, Md. – There’s good news at the James M. Bennett Food Pantry.

They are stocked and thriving. Following our recent coverage where we told you about how the pantry was in need of donations. Now, organizers say the shelves are flowing with food to better support students and community members. “We are in a good place right now because of the community coming together right before the holidays and everybody donated and they came out in full force to give to the food pantry,” said Dr. Savage.

We spoke with the school’s principal, Dr. Christel Savage who says anyone can find themselves in need. “It doesn’t matter who you are, where you come from, or where you live sometimes we go through hard times and we need to be able to help one another and that’s what the food pantry does,” said Dr. Savage.

She says stocking the shelves couldn’t have been done without the community’s support. “We as a school are so grateful for the outpouring, so we can help our students and give back. It’s just been a great positive story, we were in need and the community came out and gave back and we just wanna show our appreciation and say thank you,” said Dr. Savage.

If you’d like to donate to the food pantry they are still in need of pancake mix, syrup, individualized snacks and peanut butter and jelly.

You can donate items to the box in the school’s front office.
