UPDATE: Indian River High School student faces felonies for bringing knives to school
1/25 UPDATE: The Indian River School District has released a statement regarding this incident.
“On Wednesday, January 24, an Indian River High School student was found to be in possession of two knives, located in the student’s bookbag, while on school property. The IRHS school resource officer took the student into custody without incident and the school day continued as normal. The student has been disciplined in accordance with the IRSD Student Code of Conduct. We appreciate the assistance of the Delaware State Police and we will continue to work with students and families to ensure a safe and secure learning environment.”

DAGSBORO, Del. – An 18-year-old Indian River High School student is facing felony charges after police say he brought two knives to school.
Delaware State Police say the student was found to have two folding knives and a THC vape pen in his backpack. The items were found in a search preformed by school staff, according to police.
The student was removed from the school and released to a parent, and police say no one was hurt. Police say the student later turned himself in at Troop 4, where he was charged with possession of a weapon in a safe school zone, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and possession of marijuana.
According to police, the student was released after posting a $2,001 secured bond. He was issued a no contact order with the Indian River School District.
