Diakonia PB&J contest hopes to help meet the need for food in West OC
OCEAN CITY, Md – Heading into 2024 the Diakonia Food Pantry in West OC says they are expecting to serve more hungry families than ever before.
The Food Pantry says they serve over 300 families a month out of their locations and are on the hunt for more non-perishable food items.
That’s why they are bringing back the peanut butter and jelly donations contest- working together with Pure Fitness, Fathom Church, and Stephen Decatur High School.
“I like to do a theme food drive now and then because our normal church food drives don’t always get peanut butter and jelly, and that’s just a great staple for us to have on hand for our 50-plus clients and to give out to families and straight homeless,” said Susan Blaney of the Diakonia West Ocean City food shelter.
The shelter says they are looking to boost their help and hit a goal of 50,000 pounds in 2024.
