MAC Seniors giveback: “It’s a blessing to be able to give somebody something”

SALISBURY, Md. – MAC Agency seniors are giving back to their own community ahead of the holiday season.

“It’s a blessing to be able to give somebody something,” said Senior Giver, Alfreda Johnson. We gave back a little something something to help somebody along the way because one day we might need somebody to help us so we have to spread the love.

Ms. Alfreda Johnson gives back when her own community needs it most. “We have a lot of people in need in Salisbury. We have a lot of homeless here and we feel very grateful that we do have a home and a place to be every day, so we just wanted to give back so that they have a little extra,” said Samantha Bentley, Activities Coordinator at the MAC Agency. “There is a great need of all types of food donations, toilet paper, we go through 400 rolls of toilet paper each week so there is a great need we have here, as well as necessities,” said Christina Wilson, the Spiritual Development Director at HALO.

During the holiday time, those at the shelter don’t always have a cozy place to enjoy with families, so a small donation goes a long way. “We like to make it as special as many of our guests do not have families or will not be sharing the holiday with their families. We wanna make it really special for them while they’re here so we try to have special gifts,” said Wilson.

This is the first year the MAC Agency hosted a giveback to HALO and it’s something Ms. Johnson says she hopes more people can participate in. “I wish that everybody would do something like this to bring joy to somebody that doesn’t have,” Ms. Johnson said.
