Lewes resident believes if no construction changes are made, flooding will continue
LEWES, Del. – 47 ABC spoke with one Lewes resident who says he’s still underwater following Sunday night’s rain.
John Brady in the Perrydale Green area tells us the flooding is keeping residents from leaving their homes. He says last night rain pounded on his roof, calling the storm the worst conditions he’s ever seen. Brady says he also worries about the impact of local home construction, as he believes the projects remove trees that would normally help reduce flooding.
Brady reached out to local lawmakers to see what changes could be made but says he ran into another issue since the development does not have a homeowners association. “Theres not enough votes, not enough people willing to have the shore conservation dig up the roadway and run the water pipes up from a drain down here at the bottom of the hill to Love Creek,” said John Brady.
Without any changes made, Brady believes this flooding will continue to happen.
