Pre-orders selling fast for Farm Fresh Turkeys across the Eastern Shore

Farm Fresh Turkey Pre Orders

CAMBRIDGE, Md- Thanksgiving is less than a month away and if you’re here in Delmarva and you want a farm-fresh turkey, your time might be running out.

Emily’s Produce in Cambridge says, their online orders are filling up ahead of their final sales push before closing up for the season.

“It’s a big support for a local farm to continue their sales through November and through Thanksgiving,  and it gives us satisfaction to provide good, good, nutritious meals to families for Thanksgiving, for them to gather around the table and know that they’re eating the freshest local product that they can,” said Owner Kelly Jackson, touting the fact the turkeys sold are never frozen.

It’s a tradition 14 years strong for the farm, providing locals with fresh turkeys from Fulton Maryland, as they bring customers in and hope they browse their inventory and sell them out of their stock before seasons end.

“In the past we get I would say anywhere from 100, 150 birds, we’re always we bring our muscles and our A-game and that smile and we just love every minute of it,” said Emily Wright of Emily’s Produce.

But it’s not just them, Clayton Farms up in Denton says their pre-order window will close up by November 6th for those looking to purchase from their farm.

They say their turkeys are sourced from a farm in Chestertown, in a partnership they say benefits both.

“It’s a long drive to the farm, and few people would know about it so this is all about convenience, ” said Owner Eileen Simmons adding “This is our only our third year bringing in the fresh turkeys from outside of Chestertown, so we do anywhere between, I’ll say, 70 and 110 turkeys a year, and every year it gets better and better.”

She says her farm stand will stay open until December, but the turkey sales are a great way to get customers in the door, looking for more fresh foods.

“for our customers to have the turkey and everything else for the dinner, the big heads of cauliflower, the cabbage, the broccoli, Brussels sprouts, all of it,” she said.

Both farms say no birds will be available the day of and encourage those looking for a turkey to baste, to act with haste before their online orders are fully stuffed.

Clayton’s Farm says their window is set to close on the 13th.
