Lurking Class Skate shop raising funds to help expand potential as concert venue
Owner Bryan Whipple says throughout the year, they remodeled the space to allow for rock bands, hip-hop groups, and more to perform. However, having just one entrance in and out of the store has limited their ability to fully fill their space.
With the second entrance, the building would be up to code, and able to facilitate the kinds of concerns Whipple says can be hard to find in Salisbury.
“These types of concerts don’t exist, and when they do they are at a bar and are 21+, here we have kids of all ages and music, and it’s a great time,” Whipple said.
He tells 47 ABC WMDT that the project will cost upwards of $15,000. However, due to an overwhelming community response, they are now over halfway there with funding.
“It feels amazing, like I have so much support immediately, as soon as we made the Gofundme, I think we got like $6,000, and we’d had a fundraiser show a couple of months ago that did about 2500,” Whipple said.
Whipple says they will continue holding smaller concerts to help fund the finished project. He adds the shop is looking forward to hosting larger shows as soon as they can.
