Code enforcement foot patrol set to start in Cambridge

The pilot program will consist of neighborhood walks where staff will inspect a small number of homes each day. They’ll be looking for cracks, busted windows, holes in rooves, and collapsed structures. The officers will maintain regular patrols and also respond to resident complaints.

Cambridge development staff says this is necessary to strengthen the city.

“Homes that are left in disrepair are really just bad for neighborhoods. The personal decision a person decides to make to let their home be unsafe isn’t good for other homeowners in that neighborhood. A lot of times your house will be your most important investment,” said Brandon Hesson, the Assistant City Manager of Cambridge.

The first round of patrols will happen in the area of Robbins Street, starting November 27th.
