Cathedral of Love in Salisbury asking for donations, volunteers ahead of thanksgiving dinner giveaway

Free Thanksgiving Meal Prep

SALISBURY, Md- The Cathedral of Love in Salisbury is ramping up its efforts, hoping to break its own record for free meals served on Thanksgiving day.

The church was able to serve over 270 meals last year, with residents across the area lining up around the block to get their meals, but this year the church tells 47ABC they have their eyes set on over 300 meals.

Pastor Craig Wilson tells 47ABC that with inflation hitting low-income families, they wanted to step up their efforts and serve as many people as possible. Wilson says any food donations for Thanksgiving staples such as turkey, mashed potatoes stuffing, and more are welcome but what they need even more is volunteers.

Wilson says the meal can be a way for the community to know the church is there, and wants to help all those struggling with food insecurity, finances or just want a plate and some holiday cheer this Thanksgiving.

“We are a part of the community we care about families and individuals and we want them to know we are here for them, we pray even in this one meal we hope they feel the love and the care behind it,” Wilson said.

The giveaway is set to start right outside the church at 11 am on Thanksgiving day.
