Ocean City hosting series of public hearings about wind turbines on the shore

OCEAN CITY, Md. – Ocean City officials are asking for public input on a wind farm that could be on the horizon literally.

If approved the measure that the town is weighing would allow the construction of 121 wind turbines off of Ocean City. They would be over 900 feet tall and about 11.5 miles offshore.

Town leaders have warned in the past that the natural view could be changed forever if this happens. “This is going to be one of the very rare opportunities for our residents, visitors, and our property owners to have their voice heard by the agency of the federal government. It’s going to ultimately have the final say as to whether this project gets built or not,” said Terrence McGean, the Ocean City City Manager.

There will be two virtual hearings on October 19th and 30th and two in-person hearings: on October 24th and 26th. You can find more details on the town of Ocean City’s website.
