Moss Hill buyer VITUS respond to price hike questions
SALISBURY, Md – The property company that is set to take over the Moss Hill Rental units is responding to questions from residents over proposed rent increases.
Vitus, a Washington State-based firm, says that the price hikes will not affect the majority of tenants who qualify via income for the Section 8 rental housing subsidy, with the increased prices being paid in those cases by HUD.
In a statement to 47ABC Vitus Development Director Brooke Kim said that the company was committed to improving the units saying “Vitus intends to acquire and begin an extensive renovation of the property in the first half of 2024. Any urgent maintenance concerns should be directed to current ownership via on-site management.”
Those current conditions include black mold, water damage, and a lack of heat in units.
Kim tells 47ABC that the increase in rents, paid in large part by HUD will go towards reimbursing the debt they will bear in the renovation of the conditions of the units.
