SUSSEX COUNTY, Del. – A Berlin man, formerly employed by the Indian River School District (IRSD), has been arrested for alleged felony sexual solicitation of a child. Delaware State Police (DSP) say 66-year-old Wayne Long was charged with multiple counts as part of an ongoing investigation.

Investigators began digging into possible sexual solicitation of a child after learning that Long had allegedly requested sexually explicit images from multiple underage male children through Snapchat. Police say Long provided transportation to and from the beach in Sussex County in exchange for the images, over the course of several months.

Detectives have identified two victims in the investigation so far; however, they believe that more victims could be out there. DSP is asking for the public’s help in identifying any other potential victims.

Police say Long is a former custodian with IRSD, and supports several local school athletic teams. Long has been known to attend sporting events at Sussex Central High School, and other events at various local school districts, according to police.

Long turned himself in to Troop 4 after detectives contacted him by phone on October 30th. He is charged with two counts of felony sexual solicitation of a child under 18. Long was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and is being held at Sussex Correctional Institution on $80,000 cash bond.

Detectives are asking anyone with information, or who may be a victim, to contact David R. Mears at 302-752-3809. Information can also be provided via private Facebook message to Delaware State Police, or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
