Del. Senator Tom Carper to attend briefing on Israeli intelligence failure that led to deadly Hamas attack

WASHINGTON – Delaware Senator Tom Carper is set to attend a non-classified intelligence briefing Tuesday detailing the intelligence failure behind the attack on Israel by Hamas that killed hundreds of Israelis.
Carper tells 47ABC he is calling on more federal aid to be directed to the US ally and will share any details he can from the bi-partisan briefing.
“One of the things that I hope we’ll learn about tonight is how could an attack of this magnitude on such a multifaceted attack, how could this have happened without the Israelis who have a vaunted intelligence ability, how could this have happened without anybody in charge in Israel knowing that it was it was coming,” Senator Carper said adding “We want to make sure that we’re providing the help and get whatever they need in order to be successful to save as many lives as that they can. But the key is to make sure this kind of thing never happens again.”
According to the Associated Press as of Tuesday afternoon, the death toll in what Israel is calling a “full-scale war” has risen to 1,000 killed and 2,700 injured in Israel and at least 830 people killed and 4,250 injured in Gaza.
