DE Coalition Against Gun Violence calling for action
DELAWARE – The Delaware Coalition Against Gun Violence is calling for action.
The organization’s Executive Director Traci Murphy says it’s the third this year in Sussex County. Adding, it’s time to act now and not pretend that this gun violence is normal. Murphy says guns in the first state are sold without a background check, without safety training, and without education surrounding gun safety, meaning gun violence doesn’t happen organically. “Gun violence happens when someone who should not have access to a firearm has access to a firearm during a time of anger, fear, hate, crisis, all of these things contribute to community violence,” said Traci Murphy.
Murphy hopes to see a permit to purchase law passed by the Delaware General Assembly next session.
The Delaware Coalition Against Gun Violence also has an access fund that you can donate to as they raise money to strengthen gun laws in the First State.
