UMES recieves highest ranking ever

PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Congratulations are in order, the University of Maryland Eastern Shore achieved its highest-ever ranking in the U.S. News and World report.

Now 14th among 78 Historically Black Colleges and Universities! That’s up two spots from last year’s ranking. President Dr. Heidi Anderson says it’s all a part of their effort to bring in talented staff and high-quality students.

She says this ranking is only the beginning but their programming contributes big time to such a high rank. “We hope to go even higher like we say “we’re soaring over here…” Including social mobility, it really helps them recognize those institutions who have really focused on improving the quality of students’ lives. We’re considered R2 and it’s because the work that we do with research, we really focus on helping solve the problems in the community,” said President of UMES Dr. Heidi Anderson.

UMES has launched its $60 million dollar capital campaign, making it the largest fundraiser in the institution’s history. You can donate on UMES’ website.
