FEMA to present flooding resiliency plans at Crisfield Council Meeting
CRISFIELD, Md. – Crisfield residents are no strangers to the flooding issue, but efforts are now underway to try and fix it.
Currently, the city has 2 stormwater pumps and tide gate projects underway to support the flooding issue. FEMA is presenting its map for the city’s flood resiliency at tomorrow’s council meeting. The effort includes raising Crisfield to above 5-foot sea level.
City officials tell us what you can expect following that meeting. “To go over all the details of the proposed plan, now this is just a proposed plan. The city will be submitting a grant application this winter it will be approximately $35,000,000 to protect the south side of the city,” said Jen Merritt with the City of Crisfield.
In the following year, the city plans to submit a similar grant to protect the north side of the city. If you would like to attend the council meeting, it will be Thursday afternoon at 4 PM at the Corbin Studio and Gallery on Main Street.
