Beebe Hospital announces new head of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
LEWES, Del. – Beebe Healthcare is announcing the appointment of Elizabeth Campbell as the hospital’s first Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging.
Campbell will develop business plans that bring people and teams together, respect all perspectives, and foster equitable practices.
“Diversity is important in healthcare because having a diverse team allows Beebe to better meet the needs of our patients and team members on many levels of care and collaboration. Our staff members bring their own experiences to this mission, delivering care that understands a patient’s background and life experiences,” said David Tam President & CEO, of Beebe Healthcare.
Cambell tells 47ABC that she wants her focus to be both on workers at the hospital and the services they provide to a shifting demographic of patients.
“High-quality care is table stakes, that’s what’s expected but to go up a notch, to be able to relate to the individual specific nuance needs of our individual patients, I think that is an opportunity to leverage DEI in the delivery of patient care,” Campbell said adding “On the team member side, we need to have talented professionals who are educated and skilled and bring those talents to bear to deliver that patient care,” she said.
She tells us she also sees the role as expanding the overall framework of Beebe being active in the community, from participating in events to partnering with local schools like DSU for workforce development.
