UPDATE: One man killed in Easton after a large crowd gathering

EASTON, Md. – Easton Police are investigating a weekend homicide.

Just before 2 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the Sidetracked Saloon for a report of shots fired.

Upon the officer’s arrival, a large crowd was seen in the parking lot area and officers located a male suffering a gunshot wound. Officers conducted lifesaving measures until Talbot County Paramedics arrived and transported the victim to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton. The victim, 23-year-old Antonio Smith, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Easton Police Department Detectives established a suspect and disseminated a bulletin to law enforcement agencies. Detectives also contacted officers of the Cambridge Police Department to check a location for the vehicle. As officers were looking for the suspect vehicle, a white Ford Explorer was located in the area of Race Street in Cambridge. Cambridge Police stopped the Ford Explorer and discovered Harris was driving and Chase was the front passenger.

The investigation uncovered that Chase and Smith had an altercation at the Sidetracked Saloon. After the altercation, Chase pulled out a gun and fired a round, striking Smith. Harris then drove Chase away in the Ford Explorer.

Detectives of the Easton Police Department along with the Cambridge Police Department arrested 34-year-old Kevron Chase of Cambridge and 32-year-old Chadnee Harris of Hurlock. Chase was charged with first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm in the use of a felony, and illegal possession of a regulated firearm. Harris was charged with accessory after the fact to first and second-degree murder and accessory after the fact to a felony.

They were both released to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.
