Wicomico County announces applications for Police Accountability Board

Pab Members Needed

SALISBURY, Md – Wicomico County is looking for residents to apply to sit on the county’s Police Accountability Board, established following Maryland’s 2021 police reform legislation.

The members would be able to make recommendations about the pattern and practice of the Salisbury police department and would meet quarterly to create reports on the culture of the department.

The board would work alongside the administrative charging committee and trial board, offering a measure of public oversight for department operations and conduct.

“The board holds quarterly meetings and its overall mission is really to work with law enforcement citizens and the county government to improve policing matters. And the board more or less serves as a liaison between citizens and the other review boards and the law enforcement agencies that serve our county,” said Wicomico County Assitant Director of Administration Matt Leitzel.

Leitzel says applications for the role are open on the county’s website, with members set to be selected by the County Executive.
