Heacook Fest preview: Jimmy Charles, fundraising and fun returns to Delmar
DELMAR, Del. – After rainy weather postponed the previous date, were are less than two weeks out from Delmar’s Heacook Fest set for August 27th.
The event will honor fallen Delmar Police Corporal Keith Heacook, complete with live music, games, catering, and more.
The event will be held at Kylan Barn in Delmar, and run from 4 pm until 9 pm, with artists Jimmy Charles and LOCASH set to perform.
Organizers say its about throwing a party that Heacook himself would have wanted to attend, for the whole community that rallied around his family.
“This is an honor of him, and to keep things moving forward and a safer environment, bringing, you know, the town together more, so the plan is to do this every year in his honor, and it’s always to raise money for first responders following officers, their families and things like that,” said Kylan Barn Owner Kyle Hughes.
The event will also feature a dedication of the road that leads into the venue, which will be renamed Keith Heacook Road.
Hughes says folding chairs will be allowed for the event, but bags and bottles will not be permitted.
Those interested in purchasing tickets can visit the Heacook Fest Facebook and web page.
