$84 Million dollars in first month of Maryland Recreational Cannabis Sales

MARYLAND – The numbers are in on recreational cannabis sales in Maryland after sales began on July 1st, to the tune of 84 million dollars statewide.
“The first month of Adult Use sales went exceptionally well for Curio Wellness and our retail locations. We’re so delighted to see so many new faces in Far and Dotter & PharmKent and look forward to continuing to serve the wider Maryland community,” said Wendy Bronfein of Curio Wellness, adding “We remain dedicated to delivering safe, effective, and reliable cGMP-certified products and education, as well as ensuring supply and quality is never an issue for our medical patients who have been with us from day one.”
It’s a sentiment shared by TerrAscend, operator of The Apothecarium in Salisbury.
Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations at TerrAscend Chantelle Elsner tells us they are already ramping up production for more products this month.
“We feel very validated by the numbers we are really excited for continued growth, she said adding “Everyone was curious about Maryland compared to other markets and it has definitely exceeded our expectations.”
The strong numbers come despite a recent decision from Mastercard to attempt to suspend debit purchases from payment processors.
Operators tell 47ABC they are not worried.
“We have a robust payment system in place, for both debit and cash options at our locations, we do not believe sales will be affected,” Elsner said.
