Solar facility public hearing to happen Monday

DELMAR, Md. – A solar facility could be coming to Delmar after developers entered a bid.

They’re applying for a certificate of public convenience and necessity which would allow them to get started on building solar grids in Wicomico County. The Maryland Public Service Commission says the facility will bring economic development and help the state reach its renewable energy goals.

It aims to expand solar energy to 14.5% by 2028 and planners need your input.

“People have any concerns about the visual impacts of this solar facility, there will be a lot of solar panels on this property, the safety, and reliability of the grid if there are environmental concerns,” Tori Leonard with the Maryland Public Service Commission said.

There will be a virtual meeting tonight at 7 PM. If you miss it, you can submit written comment.
