Kids Day at the Delaware State Fair

HARRINGTON, Del. – Tuesday at the Delaware State Fair is all about kids.

“We got the kids on a field trip, we’re just walking around the fair, letting them see the animals, letting them get some food, just letting them get some fresh air, let it be a good time for them,” said Thaddeus Duffy with the East Dover Elementary.

Fourth Graders from East Dover Elementary on a school field trip to the Delaware State Fair, an experience teachers say give students a change of scenery.

“We’re just looking forward to having them outside the school, doing something that’s not school related. We’re in the building a lot. We go outside sometimes but we don’t get to do things like this so this is something different for them,” said Duffy.

Kids at the fair had a plethora of fun options to choose from, including spinning prize wheels and participating in stage entertainment. The fair may be all fun and games but organizers say there’s also something for the kids to learn.

“A lot of these booths are educational as well we have the AG Lab and the fireman’s challenge that’s both in fire safety and agriculture education it’s just a fun time and you get a little bit of education out of it,” said Sydney Stump, Delaware State Fair, Digital Media Designer.

Fairgoer Asia Shorts, visiting with the Freedom School camp for the second time around says she’s glad she came to the fair and got a chance to take on the fun with her friends.

“Just being able to see everything, we went to go see the animals, and I’ve had fun doing that. It’s fun and we’ve built a lot of memories, relationships that are continuing to flourish,” said Fairgoer Asia Lynn Shorts.

Kids Day is every Tuesday each year of the Delaware State Fair.
