Delaware State Fair Clean Team Spotlight: Meet those that keep the fair running smooth
HARRINGTON, Del. – Behind all the fun at the Delaware State Fair, is a team of dedicated workers and volunteers who braved hot temperatures, rain, and more to keep the fair running smoothly.
The Clean team, over 50 people strong helps vendors stay on top of their trash, clean up any loose debris, and help to clean tables throughout the fair.
Margaret Alvey of Chester’s Gators and Tators says the crew can be a lifesaver for vendors as they get slammed with orders, and trash begins to pile up.
“You wouldn’t be anywhere without the backup crew,” she said.
Steven Miller of the Clean Team tells 47ABC that he is back for his third year, and takes pride in hustling to keep vendors and customers happy.
“I go behind the businesses clean up trash and other stuff clean the tables sweep the trash cuz it’s the clean team, I love it,” he said.
Friday, even feel like temperatures of over 100 degrees weren’t slowing them down, with businesses saying they don’t know what they would do without them.
“He keeps everything spotless even when we are so busy we don’t have a chance to throw the trash get it out the door Steven is there,” Alvey said adding her advice any fairgoers who see them at work to “give them a positive though they are breaking their backs for all of us.”
