Bill to protect Cape Henlopen State Park from development heads to Governor Carney’s Desk
DELAWARE – A measure to protect the land of Cape Henlopen state park from development has passed the legislature and now heads to the Governor’s desk.
The bill updates the language in the land trust, that protects the state park, adding in language to the development of commercial spaces within the grounds of the park.
The bill came after community backlash to a proposed restaurant within the grounds of the park- and the DNREC decision that let the plan move forward- before ultimately being scrapped.
Bill Sponsor Russ Huxtable Released a statement to 47ABC saying “The bill was a great way to reemphasize the rich history of the park- and protect its principles of conservation, recreation, and education.”
