Arts and Crafts Showcase at the Delaware State Fair

Arts And Crafts Exhibition

HARRINGTON, Del. – All kinds of arts, crafts, and handmade goods got their chance to be seen and appreciated at the Dover building at the Delaware State Fair.

Organizers say a team of expert judges went through all submissions, awarding 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in categories including photography, painting, ceramics, and needlework.

“The whole fair really is mostly local people that are showing their items, it’s just amazing to see them come in and I look forward to watching the faces every year or the people that put in,” said Organizer Joanne Clark.

“It’s just amazing to see them come in, and I look forward to watching the faces every year or the people that put in their work see it up,” Clark said.

For people like Debbie Poe, the event was a way to connect with her daughter who enters arts every year.

“I love when I see her stuff get ribbons and I like the excitement, you know, that that brings to her, and this year she was insisting I entered something,” she said.

Poe usually volunteers but this year, she entered and had woven shoes that took her two years to make and a hand-stitched artwork that took her just two days to create.

She tells us that arts and crafts were a fun way to showcase her talents with knitting and let others see her handi-work.

“I think that they should be encouraged to enter their own things because it’s a thing that’ll bring it to the fair. You know, another reason to come to the fair,” she said.
