Unique foal buyback opportunity to benefit efforts to Save the Beebe Ranch

CHINCOTEAGUE, Va. – If you want to save the Beebe Ranch, and take part in a once in a life time opportunity, this is your chance.

Getting Creative

The Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company (CVFC) has chosen a foal for a buyback. Proceeds going to the Save the Beebe Ranch effort.

“Hopefully, it’ll generate enough interest and buzz, and funds, and all of those funds would come to the fundraiser for Save the Beebe Ranch,” said Executive Director of the Museum of Chincoteague Island, Cindy Faith. “It is a huge, huge thing for us. We’re very excited.”

The Museum of Chincoteague Island is trying to raise enough money to purchase the property, make some improvements, and preserve it forever. “This is just another example of a community locally, and a community that I now feel like is nationwide, all coming together to help us. We’re thrilled,” said Faith.

Foal #29

Foal number 29 has been selected for the buyback; a paint pony with chestnut and white markings.

“Someone said she looks like she’s got Minnie Mouse sideways on her rump,” said Faith. “She’s just bouncing around like a little ping pong ball out there. So, she’s got lots of energy, and a good confirmation, and just a sweetheart.”

How the Program Works

The buyback program works like this; an auction is held, and bidders try to win the foal, which will remain wild on Assateague. Winners are entitled to name the pony, and receive a registration certificate stating that they are a participating donor in the buyback program.

This buyback opportunity is a unique one, says Faith.

“These buy backs sometimes can get really top dollar,” said Faith. “So, we’re hopeful for that, and certainly from the response we’re hearing, we think that will happen. It’s nothing but gratitude for the fire department and anybody else who has made a donation.”

The auction will be taking place online, and starts on June 9th. Bidding closes on June 14th at 7 pm. To get in on the action, click here.
