Salisbury Pride parade and festival returns downtown this weekend

SALISBURY, Md. – The second annual Salisbury Pride Parade and Festival is coming up on Saturday.

The event will be emceed by grand marshal Magnolia Applebottom, and will include performances by other drag performers, DJ OUTLAW, and Jerome Kelly. There will also be more vendors this time around, and the parade route will be longer.

“We’re asking parade participants to be there at 1:30 at the latest, just so we can get them in formation,” said Executive Director of Salisbury PFLAG, Mark DeLancey. “Then, they’ll start from 2 to 2:30 on the parade route. The parade route goes all the way down from East Main Street to Court Street.”

DeLancey says it’s a family-friendly event, that you won’t want to miss, rain or shine.

“Salisbury is changing,” said DeLancey. “Salisbury is actually growing to become a hub for inclusivity. And, to be accepted as LGBTQ, or that spectrum, whatever it looks like for individuals. It’s a time to celebrate and be excited, and realize that we are all equal here, and it’s a great place to be.”

47 ABC WMDT is a proud sponsor of Salisbury Pride. Catch News Hour anchors Hannah Cechini and Rob Petree, and other team members, in the parade, and be sure to say hi! To learn more about the 2023 Salisbury Pride Parade and Festival, click here.
