Realtors urging first-time homebuyers to be price conscious before they buy
DELMARVA – Inflation may be high but that’s not stopping people from listing their homes.
Now realtors warn what to look out for if you are a first-time home buyer.
Be price conscious, not only knowing the house price but what your monthly payment break down to. Also whether the home is new or renovated, always be sure to get an inspection done. Marco Smith with the Maryland and Delaware Group of Long and Foster says without an agent you can definitely miss costs that can hurt you in the future.
“Make sure all the systems are in working order, they’re not near the end of their life span, because your heat pump goes up – you can be looking at $4,000 to $6,000 to replace the unit. There’s just a ton of big expenses that can happen if you don’t do it correctly,” said Marco Smith, a realtor, and mentor with the Maryland and Delaware Group of Long and Foster.
Smith says while inflation is high, here in the Delmarva market many sellers are motivated, meaning they are more willing to work with you, especially for first-time home buyers.
