Five arrested on firearm charges in Dover
DOVER, Del. – A total of five people have been arrested on firearms charges in Dover, including three juveniles.
The investigation began Wednesday afternoon when law enforcement saw a wanted 17-year-old in the area of 200 West Reed Street. Officers made contact with the teen and four others, identified as 18-year-old Khalil Smith, 25-year-old Daniel Fears, a 16-year-old male, and 17-year-old male. The wanted 17-year-old was found in possess of a loaded .22 caliber handgun in his waistband, while the 16-year-old was found in possession of a loaded handgun in his waistband that was later determined to be stolen.
A search of the surrounding area led police to recover a third firearm in the area of Fears, Smith, and the other 17-year-old.
Fears was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and illegal gang participation. He was held at SCI on a $57,000 cash bail.
Smith was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, and illegal gang participation. He was held at SCI on a $62,000 cash bail.
The 17-year-old initially wanted by Dover Police was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and illegal gang participation, as well as the initial warrant charges of third degree assault and offensive touching. He was held at Stevenson House on a $29,200 secured bail.
The second 17-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts of possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and illegal gang participation. He was held at Stevenson House on a $46,000 secured bail.
The 16-year-old was charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, receiving a stolen firearm, and illegal gang participation. He was held at Stevenson House on a $42,000 secured bail.
