Vacasa Open returns to Bethany Beach

BETHANY BEACH, Del. – The Vacasa OPEN USTA Pro Circuit event made its return to Sea Colony Tennis in Bethany Beach this week, with the Junior Women singles and doubles final matches closing out the event Sunday.

The pro circuit event saw competitors from across the world traveling to help boost their national profile, as they look the go up the rankings and qualify for even bigger tournaments.

The final singles match saw USA’s Raveena Kingsley facing off against USA’s Liv Hovde, the number 2 ranked junior player.

Organizers say they love putting on the event as it gives them a preview of who some of the biggest names in women’s tennis will be in just a few years’ time.

“2-3 years from now one of the players in this tournament will be top 50 in the world,” said Sea Colony Athletic Director Thomas Johnston, adding “Liv is expected to be probably the top woman in the world in the next couple of years, she was at junior Wimbledon the current junior Wimbledon champion and the number 2/3 under 18 player in the world so we get high-quality players here.”

Johnston tells 47ABC the event has been run for over a decade, but this year was the first time since covid they were able to hold the tournament and were thrilled with the turnout of talent and fans.
