Sussex Co. polling sites making changes

Following the story we brought to you about CLASI Delaware with concerns for disabled Delawareans voting at polling sites, the Sussex County Board of Elections is making some changes.

This comes ahead of the May 9th school board elections. 47 ABC spoke with the County Elections Eirector Bo McDowell who thanked CLASI for their insights, valuing their relationship and the volunteers they bring on election day. McDowell says the Board of Elections has already begun a comprehensive overview of all their polling locations.

This is just the beginning as the organization is also proposing more changes to the state board of elections. “To allow us to eliminate 7 of them for these very reasons, we’re also proposing to add 21 new polling locations next year1 we’re taking all necessary precautions to make sure that the people with disabilities can actually reach the voting machine in the first place,” Bo McDowell, Director of Sussex County Board of Elections said.

McDowell says moving forward Universal Voting Consoles – along with extra cones and signage will be available at their polling locations.
