Maryland folk festival in search of 750 volunteers

SALISBURY, Md. – The Maryland Folk Festival is coming back this September, and the first inaugural year of the Maryland Folk Festival will mean a new date, a new attraction, and an even bigger need for volunteers.

The city says they are looking for 750 volunteers to make the event happen and are encouraging everyone interested to visit the city’s folk festival website.

Organizer Caroline O’Hare says the date of the festival has been shifted back to September to allow for more people to attend.

She tells us they expect over 100,000 people to visit between the three days and says that’s why the city will need those volunteers more than ever doing a variety of jobs.

“There are a lot of different areas where you can help the festival out, such as bike valet or bucket brigade or selling artist merch CDs and DVDs, things like that we can’t have a festival without volunteers so we are hoping everyone will come out and lend a hand,” O’Hare said.

Each volunteer will receive a Maryland Folk Festival volunteer T-shirt, and students can earn service learning hours. The Maryland Folk Festival is set for Sept. 22nd through the 24th.
