Man sentenced to 15 years in 2022 assault

1280 Charles Ecker

SALISBURY, Md. – A Wicomico County judge has sentenced a man to more than a decade behind bars for assault.

Charles Ecker was sentenced last week to 15 years in the Division of Corrections following his conviction of first and second degree assault and reckless endangerment.

On July 28, 2022, Ecker and the female victim became involved in a verbal altercation while driving in the victim’s vehicle. When the two arrived at Ecker’s residence in Delmar, the argument reportedly escalated, and Ecker assaulted the victim. The victim then ran into Ecker’s residence to seek assistance from his mother. Moments later, the victim left the residence to prevent Ecker from stealing her belongings, at which point Ecker repeatedly hit her, causing her to lose consciousness. When the victim regained consciousness, Ecker was on top of her with his hands around her neck.

The victim escaped from Ecker and fled in her vehicle when Ecker’s mother called him into the residence. She was treated for her injuries at Atlantic General Hospital.
