55-yr-old man behind bars following Snow Hill home invasion

SNOW HILL, Md. – A Snow Hill family is recovering after a bizarre and scary situation, that started with a seemingly friendly knock at the door.

“About 4:30 P.M. we received a 911 call about a home invasion on maple street in the town of Snow Hill,” Snow Hill Police Chief Andy McGee said.

Police Chief Andy McGee described the call they received on Wednesday afternoon: “We met with our victim who indicated that a male had entered into his apartment, assaulted him and robbed him of his cell phone and wallet and fled the scene,” Chief McGee explained.

The encounter started off innocent enough with the alleged assailant offering a sweet treat. “Some girl came with him with her daughter and she was selling some cookies or something. He didn’t see no paper or nothing, next thing you know the guy had a hoodie on and a hammer,” Resident Norman Price said.

It’s a call that Chief McGee says they don’t have to answer very often. “Something like this is very rare for us to have in Snow Hill, in fact during my tenure as Chief I don’t recall another home invasion occurring in snow hill,” Chief McGee.

55-year-old Craig Lamont Jackson of Snow Hill has been identified as the suspect and now sits behind bars. “Based on our victim suspects description we were able to locate the suspect about 200 yards away from the scene and our victim was able to positively identify him as the person who entered his house and assaulted him,” Chief McGee.

Jackson is facing nine separate charges in relation to the incident. “The serious charges are first and second-degree assault, home invasion, and robbery,” Chief McGee.

Despite this violent attack, Snow Hill resident Norman Price says in his 6 years living in the area, he has always felt safe. “I don’t got no problem here. I’m disabled but we really haven’t had any problems,” Price said.

Jackson had his bail review this morning. The judge set no bond and a preliminary hearing is set for June.

The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office also assisted in this investigation and since the investigation is ongoing, police ask that you call 410-632-2444 with any tips that you may have.
