MARYLAND – The Maryland General Assembly has resolved the differences between the House and Senate versions of the Adult Use Marijuana framework, passing the bill and sending it to Governor Wes Moore’s desk.

The legislation creates licensing and tax rates for the recreational marijuana market set to begin on July 1.

Medical dispensaries will have the option to operate as dual license holders, with priority being given to minority business owners that have been disproportionally affected by marijuana laws in the past.

Existing medical cannabis dispensaries will be able to have dual licenses to sell recreational marijuana. There will be additional licenses available with priority given to minority owners in communities that have been negatively affected by past marijuana laws.
