Fallen Heroes Day celebration coming May
MARYLAND – Just a few weeks away, Maryland will honor fallen heroes across the state.
Marking the 38th ceremony, loved ones, and locals will come together to show appreciation and empathy to those who died in the line of duty, including police officers, firefighters, and medical rescue personnel. Organizers say this is a great way for the public to show appreciation for those who risk their lives daily.
Even if you are not a family member of a fallen hero your support will still go a long way. “For the public to come out, it means a lot, especially to the families and it means so much to them, to see the support. For all the officers and firefighters attending from around Maryland it means so much to us,” says Mike Dunn, Retired Police Sergeant and Planner for the ceremony.
Some of Delmarva’s very own heroes will be honored including Captain David Insley Jr. of the Salisbury Fire Department, Deputy First Class Glenn Hilliard of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s office, Past Fire Chief Neil Payne of the Stockton Fire Department, Correctional Officer Gregory Collins (from Eastern Correctional Institution), and Gregory Collins of Vienna, Maryland. The ceremony will take place on May 5th at 1 pm.
