Cambridge Police Chief provides update on youth curfew

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Police Chief Justin Todd stressed the importance of community policing in an effort to reduce crime and build relationships.

A part of that is the initiative surrounding the youth curfew which has been in place for just a few months. Children 15 years old and younger must be off the streets by 10 P.M. Sunday through Thursday as part of the curfew and by 11 P.M. Friday and Saturday.

47 ABC spoke with Chief Todd to check in and see how the curfew is doing. “We’ve had about 6 violations and we continue to educate the families certainly no arrests no citations, just warnings have been issued there have been no second violations,” said Chief Justin Todd of the Cambridge Police Department.

Chief Todd says the curfew will end on June 30th. The department will then monitor the data, see what changes need to be made, and where or what crimes are mostly happening.
