Update: Victim Idenfitied in Friday Laurel Homicide
LAUREL, Del. – UPDATE: Delaware State Police have identified the victim as 18-year-old Corey Mumford.
Delaware State Police is investigating a homicide that occurred Friday afternoon in Laurel.
On April 14th, at approximately 2:40 P.M., the Laurel Police Department responded to a shooting near the 100 block of Sunset Drive in Wexford Village Apartments. When officers arrived, they found Mumford suffering multiple gunshot wounds behind one of the apartment buildings. The officers began CPR and life-saving measures until EMS arrived on the scene. Mumford was taken to an area hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
Due to the nature of the investigation, the Laurel Police Department requested that the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit take over the investigation. No suspect information is available at this time.
