Upcoming workshop looks to identify affordable housing challenges in Lewes
LEWES, Del. – The City of Lewes is trying to identify challenges residents face in finding affordable housing.
They’re putting on a workshop, allowing community members to hear from a panel of housing experts who will discuss available state and local resources.
Local employers will also be on site to speak on how the housing issue is currently impacting the workforce in the area.
City Manager Ann Marie Townshend says many positions remain vacant due to applicants being unable to afford living in the area.
She tells us if they don’t find a solution soon it could impact the local economy. “The issue of affordable housing is really a continuum of housing. It’s not just for the people who are low income or moderate income. It’s really across the spectrum,” Townshend said.
The event will be next Tuesday, March 21st at 6 p.m. at the Margaret H. Rollins Center Community Room.
