One resident, dog rescued from Pocomoke City house fire
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – Firefighters responded to a blaze at a Pocomoke home on Sunday morning.
The Pocomoke City Volunteer Fire Company (PCVFC) says they were dispatched to the 1900 block of Cedar Hall Road around 7:45 a.m. Before crews arrived, paramedics safely removed one resident and a dog from the home, says PCFVC.
Arriving crews made an aggressive interior push, says PCFVC, while opening up the roof from above. PCFVC says due to complications accessing the core of the blaze, and worsening conditions, crews were forced to pull out and regroup. Later, they were able to make access to the fire and bring it under control, says PCVFC.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Worcester County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating. Units were assisted by Stockton, New Church, Girdletree, and Snow Hill Fire Departments.
Further investigation revealed that the fire was accidental in nature and originated from an appliance in the kitchen.
