CostAware 2.0 launched for Delawareans

DELAWARE – A tool used to help Delawareans spend their money wisely in health care is set for upgrades.

The original version of CostAware looked at procedures in hospitals. Now CostAware 2.0 will also be naming hospitals and Accountable Care Organizations along with their costs. Health officials say it’s a useful tool, that helps many to balance their budgets.

Adding this upgrade to the system will better educate Delawareans as to where their dollars are going. “I think it’s going to be critical, I think it’s going to help access, I think its also going to drive better decision makings around their healthcare decision as it relates to their quality of life,” says Steven Constantino, Director of Healthcare Reform for Delaware Health and Social Services.

DHSS says this will also help policymakers with cost containment and other issues relating to the cost of health care in the first state. Click here to access the website.
