Berlin man arrested for DUI following Thursday night crash
BERLIN, Md. – A Berlin man is facing DUI charges following a crash late Thursday night.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m., troopers responded to Route 589 at Adkins Spur Road for a reported multi-vehicle crash. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Honda CRV, being driven by 43-year-old Shannon Handy, was traveling south on Route 589. At the same time, a 2008 Ford F-150 truck, being driven by 42-year-old Antonio Aguilar, was trying to make a left turn onto northbound Route 589 from Adkins Spur Road. When attempting the turn, the Ford reportedly crashed into the Honda in the southbound lane of Route 589.
Handy was flown by MSP helicopter to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment. A 41-year-old passenger was taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional for treatment.
Aguilar was arrested for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol. We’re told additional charges are pending in this case.
