Eastern Shore Delegation to support broadband efforts
DELMARVA – On Delmarva Friday morning, Eastern Shore Delegation members came together to discuss issues, one being energy.
The Secretary of Veteran Affairs got on the call to listen to issues all the way from Cecil County to Somerset County. The Chesapeake Bay Trust also discussed how they’re advocating and working to fund their educational issues for agriculture. And Choptank Electric asked for support with rural broadband and energy issues.
The delegation was asked to write a letter of support for a statewide appropriation to help deliver broadband, which Delegation Chair Chris Adams says is a need. “Choptank competes for these grants so while its no guarantee, you do want to have money available so they can deliver their mission to get the last mile completed which they’re working on,” says Delegate Chris Adams, for Maryland District 37B.
Delegate Chris Adams says it’s important to have this funding in the state budget for the expansion of broadband priorities. Many different cabinet secretaries will be speaking at the Eastern Shore delegation meetings in the next few weeks, one of them will be former Salisbury Mayor Jake Day.
