Cambridge Commission President Lajan Cephas Appointed to the NLC

CAMBRIDGE, Md. – Congratulations are in order for Lajan Cephas.

You may know her as the Cambridge Commission President. The Cambridge native was appointed to serve on the National League of Cities’ Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee. She has been elected to a 1-year term. In this role, she will provide guidance on policy priorities and public safety issues.

Cephas says she is excited to take on the role specifically looking at ways to help young people. “I’m very excited about trying to find a more holistic approach to crime prevention and also to public safety and a very important component to that is opportunities for youth,” says Lajan Cephas.

Cephas says this will change the narrative of how children are looked at by viewing them as assets rather than liabilities.
