Man rescued after falling into sand pit

Dagsboro, DE- Crews from the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Department, in addition to other departments across Delaware and the Eastern Shore of Maryland responded to a call to rescue a man who fell into a sand bin.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to Atlantic Concrete outside of Millsboro off of Thorogoods Road around 10:15 am.

The man who had fallen into the sand bin was suspended approximately 50 feet in the air and was buried up to his neck.

The rescue took approximately 6 hours to complete and the man who was trapped was flown to a nearby hospital by Delaware State Police for his injuries but is alert and in stable condition.
