Wicomico Co. Exec. Julie Giordano brings legislative priorities to Annapolis
ANNAPOLIS, Md. – As lawmakers headed back to Annapolis Wednesday, recently sworn-in Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano joined them.
Giordano met with the Eastern Shore delegation to ensure they will tackle the most pressing needs in the county. This, as the 445th session of the Maryland General Assembly begins.
“We want to be an active member here. So, when we say ‘active local leadership’, that doesn’t mean just in Wicomico. We need our delegation to know that we support them here, as well,” said Giordano in Annapolis Wednesday.
One issue Giordano says she wants to see state-level help with altering county liquor licensing. Another, would put a sanitary district in place to kickstart the County’s water and sewer plan. Giordano also shared the County’s Capital Improvement Plan with lawmakers, which outlines the biggest projects in the County’s pipeline.
“We really want to get that water and sewer plan moving. That’s going to be the first step,” said Giordano. “If [lawmakers] hear of anything, they’re able to have that information right in front of them.”
Those needs will only be better met through clear and consistent communication, says Giordano.
“We have to support our Eastern Shore delegation. So, we want them to know that we’re here for them. We wanted to also make sure that they understood what their wants and needs are in Wicomico,” said Giordano. “I always think they like having people from the hometown up here supporting them.”
