US Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester ‘Sees path for bipartisanship’ in Republican lead House, warns of US Debt Ceiling default dangers
DELAWARE- US House Representative Lisa Blunt Rochester says she believes her Bipartisan agenda still has a path to passing in the now Republican-controlled House.
She tells us she worked with Democrats and Republicans on her Clean Slate legislation, efforts to address supply chain shortages to protect national security interests and keep prices low for consumers, as well as working to provide childcare services to help women return to the workforce after being disproportionally impacted during the pandemic.
However, she tells us that republican leadership needs to ” wramp up their efforts and get to work,” and warned against a protracted battle over the US Debt Ceiling, as floated by members of the House Republican Freedom Caucus.
“I don’t know where they are going to go on this, but we know we can’t default we know it has a real impact on real people from social security checks to our credit standing in the world so I am hoping they will be responsible like Republicans in the Senate are proposing and work for the American people,” Blunt Rochester said.
According to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, the US will reach its debt limit next Thursday.
