Two local wrestlers take first at War on the Shore

BERLIN, Md. – Ivan Neal Jr. of Sussex Central was on a redemption tour during the 2023 War on the Shore. After a second place finish in last year’s event he went the distance and won a 5-1 decision in the 195-pound championship.

Neal was one of two shore wrestlers to take home first place in this year’s event.

Decatur’s Gavin Solito won a 14-5 major decision in the 145-pound first place event.

Sussex Central’s Evan Cordrey, Gabe Cannon, and Malachi Stratton each came in second in their classes.

Colonel Richardson’s Austin Alexander came up short in the 285-pound class.

Caesar Rodney’s Cody Waski finished second in the 160-pound event.

Decatur had two wrestlers finish second; Elijah Collick in the 106, and Logan Intrieri in the 132.
