Salisbury Town Square to start construction in the Spring
SALISBURY, MD – A major upgrade to downtown Salisbury which city leaders say is long overdue will start soon.
We first brought you this story back in 2019. Salisbury town square is set to start construction this spring. The project includes a play and event space more seating areas, greenery, and a fountain. It will transform the area near the Wicomico public library.
Salisbury City Council Vice President April Jackson says while this will be a huge, and long-awaited asset to the community, it didn’t come without delays.”Right now that project, the plans, and the drawings are completed, the project needed some additional funds due to the cost of material and labor. We needed $200,000 and we got that from the bond proceeds,” says Councilwoman April Jackson.
Jackson says she hopes people are ready to get out and get involved in making this dream a reality. The city will be putting out construction updates and parking lot closures.
The project is expected to take 6 months to a year to complete.
